We built this bedroom heater as a direct-radiant halogen lamp—compact, but seriously powerful. It runs at 2500W on 400V, with a 300mm tube and an R7s base. The whole point? Pack a ton of heat into a small space, and make the wiring simple—quick to hook up, and it stays lined up the way it should.
What makes it work
The 400V rating is a smart move. It keeps the current lower on the supply side, so you can use smaller conductors and cut down on voltage drop over distance—especially compared to running the same power at 230V. Then there’s the 2500W output. It heats up fast. And the 300mm length focuses that heat into a tight zone, so you get warmth exactly where you want it—without trying to warm the whole room.
Materials and design, explained
Halogen technology keeps the filament stable and keeps the quartz envelope running hot, which helps the output stay steady over the life of the lamp. The quartz coating is chosen to keep thermal performance consistent and resist hot-spot degradation—so it stays reliable, not finicky. And the R7s connector? It gives you a solid two-pin termination that’s easy to align and easy to replace when you need to.
Where it shines—and what to keep in mind
In a bedroom, this setup delivers fast, focused heat, and the wiring stays straightforward. The short tube fits neatly into tight housings, and when it’s time for a replacement, the R7s base makes it a quick drop-in job. One thing to note: with 2500W of heat density, you’ll want proper thermal management around the lamp. Just remember clearance and ventilation during installation.
