
Keeping Your Bathroom Warm (Without Blinding Yourself)
Let’s be honest: there is nothing worse than stepping out of a hot shower into a freezing cold bathroom. You want that heat to hit you immediately. But designing a heater for a bathroom is a bit of a nightmare because you’re fighting a war against humidity and safety risks. Especially when kids are around, you can’t just put a scorching hot light bulb on the ceiling and call it a day.
The “Blinding Light” Problem
If you’ve ever used a basic infrared lamp, you know that harsh, bright white glare. It’s annoying, and it can actually strain your eyes. We didn’t want that. So, we used a special coating on the quartz glass to shift the light. Instead of that blinding flash, the lamp focuses on long-wave infrared. You still get all the cozy warmth, but the light is soft. It’s the difference between staring at a flashlight and feeling the sun on your skin.
Dealing with the Steam
Water and electricity are a terrible mix. To keep things safe, we seal everything up with heavy-duty gaskets and tempered glass. But here’s the tricky part: when you seal a heater to keep water out, the heat gets trapped inside the fixture. If you use cheap plastic for the housing, it’ll warp or start smelling like burnt chemicals. We make sure the materials can take the heat without breaking a sweat.
A Few Tips for Installation
We made these easy to swap in. Most of them use standard connectors, so you aren’t spending your whole weekend wrestling with wires. Just a heads-up: even though the light is softer on your eyes, that quartz tube getsinsanely hot. Make sure the protective grill is locked in tight so nobody accidentally touches it. Also, if your bathroom doesn’t have great airflow, the room can get a bit too toasty. I’d suggest pairing the heater with a simple timer or a thermostat. That way, it shuts off once the room is comfortable, and you don’t end up turning your bathroom into a sauna.
